Railway modelling is an absorbing hobby with many different facets appealing to a wide range of related interests. For many years the major manufacturers were caught between the two stalls of scale models and a more robust product vaguely representing a chosen prototype. Those items that were freely available tended towards the later description and therefore to a wider market, which obliged the more serious modeller to indulge in a detailing exercise, ranging from simple additional parts to drastic surgery. With the decrease and eventual loss of the once lucrative and traditional trainset market, the manufacturing industry was free to turn its attention to the hitherto ignored sector of true railway modelling, where the participants are mainly adults and demand a high degree of realism. Perhaps the most exciting and potentially most far reaching developments of recent years has seen a Digital Command Control (DCC) system that actually works. Rather than controlling a section of track and anything on that track, individual locomotives (and any other controllable function) are operated as discrete and independent units. At FOOTPLATE RAILWAY MODELS you will find a friendly atmosphere in which to browse for your requirements and you may seek assistance from experienced railway modellers who also have considerable practicable working knowledge of the full size railway. Here you will find trackwork for all gauges. Lineside and scenics for gauges “N” to “0”, materials and tools. The following lists are of all items normally held in stock or on order and every effort is made to keep these up to date. Prices quoted are inclusive of VAT; being correct at time of issue of this price list. Not all manufacturers review their prices at the same time, therefore, whilst every effort is made to keep prices stable, Footplate reserves the right to vary prices without prior notice. Postage and Packing is nominally £4.00 per order, however some very heavy or awkward items e.g. transformer/controllers; boxes of track, will be charged at cost. All overseas orders are at cost. |
